Cultural highlights in Hanover and the surrounding area

The cultural route connects cultural institutions of supra-regional importance in the state capital of Hanover and the surrounding regions – including Hildesheim. Here, you'll find four World Heritage sites: the UNESCO World Heritage churches of St. Michaelis and St. Mary's Cathedral, the Cathedral Museum, and the Roemer and Pelizaeus Museum. Following the main route beyond Hildesheim will also take you to the UNESCO World Heritage Fagus Factory in Alfeld. The route is divided into several stages. For example, you can reach and return to Hildesheim via main routes 1 and 2, as well as alternative route 9b. The stages are approximately 40 to 50 kilometers long, and there are also suggestions for shorter routes for those in a hurry. The starting and ending points are easily accessible by public transport.
The highlights of the tour are undoubtedly the cultural "lighthouses" of each city, but the surrounding nature will also delight you.
