Along the Leine River through the Hildesheim region

The Leine-Heide Cycle Path stretches 413 kilometers from Leinefeld in Thuringia to Hamburg. Approximately 55 kilometers of this route – from Freden to Sarstedt – follow the Leine River through the Hildesheim holiday region. On this section, you'll traverse the Leine Uplands and enjoy magnificent views of the Leine Valley, the Sieben Berge (Seven Hills), and other prominent hills, which you won't actually have to cross. Thanks to the predominantly flat terrain, this cycle path is also well-suited for families.
Along the way, you'll pass picturesque half-timbered towns and numerous smaller and larger sights. In Nordstemmen, for example, the impressive Marienburg Castle awaits you. From here, a detour to Hildesheim, 15 kilometers away, is also worthwhile, with its two UNESCO World Heritage churches, museums, and historic market square. The stage ends in the state capital, Hanover.
