Tension crackles on stage, enchanting music fills the hall to its furthest corner: The Theater für Niedersachsen presents a captivating program year after year. In Hildesheim's main auditorium, with 550 seats and a recently renovated foyer, as well as a studio stage, you can enjoy enchanting productions in the genres of drama, opera, operetta, dance theater, and musicals. There's something for everyone. Its dual role as both a municipal and state theater also provides performances to other communities throughout the state. For your children, there's the Young Theater, offering participatory workshops, as well as the annual Hildesheim Children's Theater Week. Children's and youth plays, as well as poetry slams, performance art, lecture performances, and improvisational theater can all be admired at the Theaterhaus Hildesheim – in the former factory warehouses near the main train station, around 30 independent theater ensembles have joined forces, a truly unique venue in Germany.
