Shopping streets and centers

Short distances, large selection

From small fashion boutiques and sustainable second-hand shops to the 27.000-square-meter Arneken Gallery – in Hildesheim, you can shop to your heart's content. Distances are often short, especially since many good shops are located close together. For example, on Hildesheim's main shopping street, Hoher Weg, you'll find a variety of well-known brands as well as numerous cafés and ice cream parlors for a break. Its southern end leads into Schuhstraße with its many small and large shops, while to the north lie Almsstraße and Bernwardstraße, which connect the city center with the main train station. Among Hildesheim's oldest commercial streets are Scheelenstraße and Osterstraße, with their many owner-operated specialty shops and family businesses. And if the weather isn't so great, you'll find a welcoming retreat in the two covered levels of the Andreas Passage near St. Andrew's Church, with its bookstore and small shops. Or, of course, in the Arneken Gallery in the heart of the city – on three levels you can shop comfortably indoors and later enjoy a delicious meal in one of the restaurants.
