Brought back to life
At "Zweimalschön" (Twice Beautiful), something magical happens, according to the website of the secondhand shop on Hildesheim's Schuhstraße (Shoe Street): discarded items are given a new lease on life. By donating worn, high-quality textiles to the charity shop (part of the German Clothing Foundation) or reusing them as a customer, you're also helping the environment – this reduces the number of new items produced and thus conserves resources. Oh yes, and of course, you can save a lot of money as a customer; you'll hardly find more affordable options for chic designer fashion or stylish accessories. These are also available at other secondhand shops like "Goldstück" (Gold Piece) a few doors down, which, in addition to textiles from well-known labels for women, offers a wide selection of children's clothing. Footwear, everyday fashion, and lovingly handcrafted one-of-a-kind pieces for rapidly growing children are also available at "Königskinderwelt" (Royal Children's World) next to the city library, all at affordable prices. In the “Faserwerk” of the Kulturfabrik Löseke at Ottoplatz, many garments even bear labels with their previous life story (if the previous owner had time to write it down) – the proceeds from the sale are then donated to project work and workshops of the institution.
