Through the air

Hot air balloon ride over Hildesheim

The world truly reveals itself from above! The experience begins as the balloon is gradually filled with hot air. But the real adventure begins when the gentle giant slowly ascends with you and your loved ones on board, gliding serenely over the Hildesheim landscape. The launch site is located at Lake Hohnsen in Hildesheim, where two providers will help you create your own unique flying experience.

Tandem parachute jump

The ultimate thrill comes with a tandem skydive. The starting point is at Hildesheim airfield. In about 15 minutes, the plane takes you to the jump altitude of 4000 meters. Then it's time for the real thing. Out of the hatch and into an unforgettable adventure! You'll reach a speed of around 250 km/h and experience approximately one minute of freefall before the parachute opens and you glide gently back to earth. Ready for takeoff?

Walks with alpacas

Need to slow down? With their big, expressive eyes, fluffy fur, and easygoing nature, alpacas win our hearts in no time. If you'd like to learn more about these lovable animals and enjoy a leisurely stroll through nature with them, you're spoiled for choice in the Hildesheim region, with two alpaca herds to choose from, one in the north and one in the southeast of the district. Or you can pick your favorite alpaca from among all the animals and become a sponsor.

Donkey treks

Not only alpacas, but also donkeys offer wonderful opportunities to spend time together. Since these intelligent, sociable, and curious animals are sure-footed, you can even explore the fields and forests around Bad Salzdetfurth with them on extended hikes. Furthermore, children and adults alike will find a much more tangible escape from everyday life at Britta's Forest Farm.

Cheese seminar with farm tour

You can experience what daily life is like on a dairy sheep farm by taking a guided tour of the Greth farm in Söhlde on the first Friday of every month. Afterwards, enjoy a tasting in good company and sample the diverse and incredibly delicious sheep's cheeses. And if you'd like to try making your own sheep's cheese, you can learn how in a cheese-making course. Of course, all products are also available for purchase in the small farm shop on site!

Truffle excursion with tasting

You can experience the thrill of truffle hunting on a guided tour of a truffle plantation in Alfeld. These prized truffles aren't only cultivated in the south, but also in the Hildesheim region. During a two-hour tour, you'll literally learn a great deal about Burgundy truffles, their cultivation, their symbiotic partners, and the harvest. A tasting session is, of course, included at the end.

Treehouse overnight stay

Anyone who has ever dreamed of spending their holiday in a fairytale-like accommodation can do so at the Sottrum Family Park. Besides a campsite, the park offers imaginative accommodations for overnight stays – for example, the barrel house with its fantastical dragon carvings, the treetop house with its watering can shower, or the Villa Villekulla with its charcoal grill.
