City tour with audio guide

From now on, Hildesheim can be discovered in a truly unique way using the Lauschtour app. With your smartphone as your guide and headphones on, a city tour of Hildesheim becomes an informative and entertaining audio experience. Along the Rose Route, a professional narrator will guide you through the world of the historic market square, the UNESCO World Heritage churches, the legendary 1000-year-old rosebush, and much, much more. Experienced Hildesheim experts share their insights, recounting fascinating stories, background information, and anecdotes about the cathedral city and its sights. The sound of real bells from the Kehrwieder Tower, the call of the eagle owl from St. Mary's Cathedral, and the hammering of the blacksmith make the tour an atmospheric and authentic listening experience.

The project is funded by the "Perspective City Center (REACT-EU)" program. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the European Commission (EC) and the Lower Saxony Ministries for Federal and European Affairs and Regional Development (MB), for Economic Affairs, Labour, Transport and Digital Infrastructure (MW), and for the Environment, Energy, Building and Climate Protection (MU) launched an emergency program to support crisis management in Lower Saxony's city centers and downtowns. This funding program supports a wide range of measures, including concepts and strategies such as the development or updating of a city center or downtown concept, initiatives against vacancies and "problem properties," and other measures within the areas of trade and services, culture, leisure and tourism, nature and climate protection, and transport and logistics. Within this framework, Hildesheim Marketing GmbH, together with the City of Hildesheim, submitted the project "Creation and Integration of a Tourist Feature into the New Hildesheim App," which was successfully approved. The aim of the project is to integrate cultural and tourist content into the new Hildesheim app from Stadtwerke Hildesheim AG via a tourist feature. An interface will provide free access to Hildesheim's sights, points of interest, events, and various city exploration routes for diverse target groups. These target groups include tourists, residents, children, families, and school groups. Depending on the occasion, various target group-specific offers will be provided, such as a tour of the street art district, along the famous Hildesheim Rose Route, to the light art festival, or a neighborhood tour, and, depending on the season, a Christmas tour.
