Market square and half-timbered houses

Colorful, quaint, and full of stories

The magnificent half-timbered houses, adorned with carvings and vibrant colors, that line Hildesheim's market square create an atmosphere that is truly unique. But Hildesheim's "parlor" isn't the only place to boast breathtaking half-timbered architecture. Just a short walk from the city center, the quaint lanes of the half-timbered quarter bear witness to the building and living traditions of centuries past. Alongside the last remaining tower of the medieval city fortifications and the adjacent ancient ramparts, St. Godehard's Church—spared from wartime destruction and virtually unchanged since the Middle Ages—seems like a portal to another era. Let our guides lead you there!
