Many roads lead to Hildesheim

Welcome to our city! Whether you're traveling by train, car, bus, or campervan, Hildesheim is quick and easy to reach, whether for a relaxing holiday or a business trip. It's only 35 kilometers from Hanover, the capital of Lower Saxony, and even has a public transport connection. Major cities like Hamburg (170 km), Berlin (280 km), and Frankfurt (320 km) are also within easy reach, and the 600-kilometer journey from Munich can be enjoyed as a leisurely ICE train ride, making it a perfect mini-tour of Germany. Arriving by bus

Travel to the city affordably by long-distance bus. The arrival and departure point is the Hildesheim central bus station (ZOB), located very close to the main train station and the city center. Within the city and region of Hildesheim itself, the SVHI and RVHI transport companies offer reliable bus services.

  • The Hildesheim stop is a regular part of the FlixBus network and is served several times a day from various directions. Tickets are online, available in the FlixBus app and nationwide in cooperating travel agencies.

Arrival by train

Travel to Hildesheim comfortably and sustainably by train. ICE and regional express trains will take you to Hildesheim Central Station, which is located close to the city center and just a 10-minute walk from the tourist information office.

  • You can reach Hildesheim directly from Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart, Braunschweig and Göttingen by ICE train.

  • From other regions, you can travel to Hildesheim via the ICE hub in Hanover. Regional express trains run every two hours without changing trains from places like Halle (Saale), and Hildesheim is also easily accessible by S-Bahn, Metronom, and Eurobahn.

Arriving by car

Hildesheim is conveniently located. The city is easily accessible via the motorway or main roads. Parking is not a problem in Hildesheim; a parking guidance system helps you find the nearest car parks and parking lots.

In Hildesheim, there are also numerous charging stations available for electric cars.

  • From the north and south, the A7 motorway from Hamburg or Munich passes just a few kilometers east of Hildesheim – optimally connected by two exits near the city.

  • From the east and west, the A2 leads from the Ruhr area and Berlin via the Hannover-Ost motorway junction to the A7 towards Hildesheim.

  • The well-developed federal highways B1, B3, B6, B494, B444 and B243 lead directly to the city center.

Arrival by campervan

With your home on wheels, you can choose between various parking spots. Whether near the city center on the eastern shore of Lake Hohnsen, just a stone's throw from the JoBeach lido, or at the many well-equipped motorhome and camping sites in the region.
