Hildesheim has something to offer all year round. But there are days when the city really comes alive. A glance at the events calendar reveals what's on. Need some examples? Why not drift away to the sounds of jazz, blues, and country at Jazztime, or rock out at the M'era Luna Gothic Festival at the airfield? The Pflasterzauber street festival features circus, dance, and theater at unique locations throughout the city, while the Seespektakel (Lake Spectacle) sees knights, jugglers, and musicians take over the shores of Lake Hohnsen. The Citybeach party, held from the end of June to the end of August at An der Lilie square, is particularly cool, where, in addition to sports and games in the sand, DJ sets and delicious cocktails create a South Seas atmosphere. For a change of pace later in the year, there's the historic Christmas market with its festively decorated stalls, as well as ice skating at the Eiszeit (Ice Age) rink. For those who, amidst all the hustle and bustle, still haven't found something nice for their loved ones at home, no problem: Sunday shopping and late-night shopping ensure plenty of shopping fun even at unusual times.
