Huckup Monument Hildesheim
The bronze monument, created in 1905 based on a legend and located at the southern end of Hildesheim's pedestrian zone, depicts an apple thief cowering under the weight of a goblin (symbolizing a guilty conscience) on his shoulders. The inscription on the base, written in the Hildesheim dialect, reads:
Young man, let the apples stand
Sweet package deck your Huckup.
Dei Huckup is en starken Wicht,
Hold wicked court with the thieving devils.
