Basilica of St. Godehard
Elevated to the status of a "Basilica minor" by Paul VI in 1963, the church is one of the few Romanesque churches in Germany that have remained virtually unchanged in their original form. This is evident in the special atmosphere of the building, picturesquely situated in the half-timbered quarter, with its richly detailed towers, columns, and round arches. Alongside the World Heritage churches of St. Michaelis and Hildesheim Cathedral, the Basilica of St. Godehard is a hidden gem, steeped in history and atmosphere, inviting contemplation.
