ROSE ROUTE – Basic route "Market and World Heritage"

The basic Rose Route tour leads to the city's outstanding sights and provides a brief, informative overview at each point. The route begins at the historic market square and takes you, among other places, to the two UNESCO World Heritage churches, where you can see for yourself the namesake of the tour – the 1000-year-old rosebush.

ROSE ROUTE – Extension "Half-timbered houses in the Godehard district"

The first extension of the Rose Route leads through the picturesque half-timbered quarter and shows a picture of Hildesheim before its destruction in the Second World War. The tour ends at the Basilica of St. Godehard. From here, you can also continue with the basic Rose Route tour and discover Hildesheim's UNESCO World Heritage churches.

ROSENROUTE – Extension "Keßlerstraße and Kehrwiederwall"

On the second extension of the Rose Route, you can stroll leisurely through the historic Keßlerstraße and enjoy the views of its quaint half-timbered houses. If you simply can't get enough of beautiful half-timbered facades, you can then explore the area around St. Godehard's Basilica with the "Half-timbered Houses in the Godehard Quarter" extension, or you can follow the basic Rose Route and discover Hildesheim's UNESCO World Heritage churches.

ROSE ROUTE – Extension of "Hildesheim's most beautiful garden"

The third extension of the Rose Route holds two treasures: the romantic Baroque Magdalenengarten, a blooming oasis in the heart of the city, and a magnificent carved wooden altarpiece in St. Magdalenen Church. Afterwards, a visit to the adjacent UNESCO World Heritage Site, St. Michael's Church, is also worthwhile. From there, you can explore the city's other sights along the main Rose Route.

Street Art Tour North City Wall Gallery

The growing street art scene in Hildesheim has its center in the northern part of the city. On this exploration tour through Hildesheim's premier street art district, you'll discover the ever-increasing number of artworks in public spaces. Most of these pieces were created by professional artists as part of the Nordstadt Wall Gallery project of the Kulturfabrik Löseke (KUFA) in close collaboration with local residents.

Moritzberg – Studios & Galleries

As one of Hildesheim's oldest districts, Moritzberg offers not only charming, winding alleyways but also small, lovingly run shops. So why not follow the "Studios & Galleries – Moritzberg" route in the Hildesheim app and explore the unique shops, each worth a visit in its own way. Along this route, you'll also encounter St. Mauritius Church, the Königsteich pond, and the World Heritage view overlooking the city.

East City - Studios & Galleries

The tour starts centrally in front of the St. Jakobi Literature House in Hildesheim's city center and then leads towards the eastern part of the city, a district particularly popular with students and families. Here you can discover the architecture of the Theater für Niedersachsen and historic 19th-century buildings, contrasted with modern street art, or take a break in one of the nearby ice cream parlors. At the beginning and end of your route, you'll pass small, lovingly run studios and galleries.

The project is funded by the "Perspective City Center (REACT-EU)" program. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the European Commission (EC) and the Lower Saxony Ministries for Federal and European Affairs and Regional Development (MB), for Economic Affairs, Labour, Transport and Digital Infrastructure (MW), and for the Environment, Energy, Building and Climate Protection (MU) launched an emergency program to support crisis management in Lower Saxony's city centers and downtowns. This funding program supports a wide range of measures, including concepts and strategies such as the development or updating of a city center or downtown concept, initiatives against vacancies and "problem properties," and other measures within the areas of trade and services, culture, leisure and tourism, nature and climate protection, and transport and logistics. Within this framework, Hildesheim Marketing GmbH, together with the City of Hildesheim, submitted the project "Creation and Integration of a Tourist Feature into the New Hildesheim App," which was successfully approved. The aim of the project is to integrate cultural and tourist content into the new Hildesheim app from Stadtwerke Hildesheim AG via a tourist feature. An interface will provide free access to Hildesheim's sights, points of interest, events, and various city exploration routes for diverse target groups. These target groups include tourists, residents, children, families, and school groups. Depending on the occasion, various target group-specific offers will be provided, such as a tour of the street art district, along the famous Hildesheim Rose Route, to the light art festival, or a neighborhood tour, and, depending on the season, a Christmas tour.
