Fine wines and a convivial atmosphere in the marketplace

The Hildesheim Wine Festival invites you to enjoy, linger and taste from May 13th to 17th, 2026.

Visitors can sample a wide variety of wines and other delicacies at numerous stalls over a total of five days. The selection is once again extensive this year.

Around Ascension Day, the historic Hildesheim market square transforms into a meeting place for wine lovers. Winemakers, wine merchants, and restaurateurs from various wine-growing regions invite visitors to the Hildesheim Wine Festival to enjoy special wines and culinary delights in a relaxed atmosphere. At numerous stalls, visitors can sample a wide variety of wines and other delicacies. The selection is once again extensive this year. 

The Master winemaker Dornbach winery This winery from the Rheingau region has been a part of the Hildesheim Wine Festival for many years. They offer a selection of classic Rieslings and Pinot Noirs. The family-run winery is known for its fresh, fruit-forward wines and Rheingau wine culture.

The Vilicus GmbH The Hildesheim Wine Festival will present Rheinhessen wines with a fruity character. Visitors can look forward to selected white wines and enjoyable summer moments.

The [unclear] has also been part of the [unclear] for decades. Dr. Balzhäuser Family Winery A winery from Rheinhessen is a regular fixture at the Hildesheim Wine Festival. This traditional winery cultivates numerous grape varieties – from Riesling and Pinot Blanc to Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Shiraz. Johannes Balzhäuser is the ninth generation to run the winery, striving to produce the very best from every vintage.

Also represented is the Emil Franz Winery from the Moselle region. As special highlights, the winemakers are bringing the 2023 Pinot Blanc "Blanker Hans" – harmonious, fruity, and low in acidity – as well as the 2024 Riesling "Alte Rebe" from ungrafted vines over 60 years old. The selection is complemented by various Rieslings, sparkling wines, sparkling wine cocktails, and spirits produced on-site. Oberkirch winegrowers Wineries from Baden are presenting, among other things, their 2025 Rivaner. This summery wine impresses with exotic fruit aromas of pineapple, passion fruit, and banana, and is considered the ideal companion for warm spring days in the market square.

Four winegrowers from the Southern Palatinate will be presenting themselves at the stand of Müller's mulled wine factoryVisitors can choose from 21 first-class organic wines, organic white and rosé sparkling wines, and organic grape or apple juice. This year's special offering is the rosé cuvée "Pinky" from the Marienfelderhof winery – an exceptional summer wine with strawberry and pepper aromas made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir grapes. Many Hildesheim residents will also likely be familiar with Müller's mulled wine manufactory from the Christmas market. The family winery will also be present. Karl-Heinz Frey is participating again this year. For over 70 years, this Rheinhessen winery has been passionately dedicated to winemaking and today offers an exceptional selection of around 35 grape varieties. In addition to winemakers from across the region, local wine merchants will also be represented at the wine festival. Wine Kusch brings another diverse selection of international wines to Hildesheim. 

The selection ranges from fresh summer wines like "Sommerlaune" (Summer Mood) or "Leichtigkeit des Seins" (Lightness of Being) to Bordeaux, Valpolicella, and Primitivo, as well as alcohol-free rosé and sparkling wine. Sustainable PIWI wines from small wineries are also represented. The Hildesheim Potters Bar The winery offers its guests selected wines from its own range, inviting them to enjoy wine in a relaxed atmosphere at the market square. The wine stand also originates from Hildesheim. Fabian Hartmann, who will be represented at the wine festival with a wide variety of wines and a cozy atmosphere.

And since good wine goes hand in hand with delicious food, wine festival guests can look forward to bratwurst, cheese specialties, hand bread, and other culinary delights. This year's wine festival once again promises a joyful get-together with all sorts of culinary treats.

The wine festival kicks off on Wednesday, May 13th at 13 p.m. It will be officially opened at 18 p.m. by Mayor Dr. Ingo Meyer, Fritz S. Ahrberg, Managing Director of Hildesheim Marketing GmbH, and Axel Kusch, representing the Hildesheim Wine Convention. Also in attendance will be the new Hildesheim Wine Queen, Lisa Fesser. A native of Hildesheim, she first encountered wine in depth at the Hildesheim Wine Festival and won the title against six other contestants. The newly self-employed Lisa is about to complete her training as a legal and notary assistant. She particularly enjoys white and rosé wines – preferably semi-dry or dry. As Hildesheim Wine Queen, she is looking forward to representing the wine festival and the wine culture of the region.

Thursday (Ascension Day): 13 p.m. to 22 p.m.

Friday and Saturday: 13 a.m. to 24 p.m

Sunday: 13 to 20 clock
